Copa do mundo no Brasil,

Meeting with the group of the "House of Artists".Once we arrived there, day 4, at the "House of Artists", in that night would be an impromptu between a poet repentista (suddenly) called, Azulão  and a group of rappers "O quadro".Repente (suddenly0 (also known by challenge) is a Brazilian folk tradition whose origin dates back to medieval minstrels. Especially strong in northeastern Brazil, is a blend of poetry and music in which improvisation predominates - the creation of poetry "suddenly". RAP is Rhythm, Love and Poetry.It was very beautiful and exciting!

Encontro com o grupo da Casa dos Artistas.

Assim que chegamos lá dia 4 á Casa dos Artistas, nessa noite ia haver um concerto de improviso entre um poeta repentista, Azulão e um grupo de Rappers "O Quadro".  

Repente (conhecido também como desafio) é uma tradição folclórica brasileira cuja origem remonta aos trovadores medievais. Especialmente forte no nordeste brasileiro, é uma mistura entre poesia e música na qual predomina o improviso – a criação de versos "de repente". E o RAP é Ritmo Amor Poesia.

The next day we present at the artists' house, where we also made a presentation at the end of the FAAAC, which was where we met, me and Adrien, and some projects such as "work in progress art meeting" and the origin of the "Backpack Tour ". Why Brazil? Why not?

No dia seguinte apresentamos nós na casa dos artistas, onde também fizemos uma apresentação no final sobre a FAAAC, que foi onde nos conhecemos, eu e o Adrien, e alguns projectos como o "work in progress arts meeting" e a origem do projecto "Mochila Tour". Porquê o Brasil? Porque não?

"Um belo dia", Casa dos Artistas

Stood on many issues, such as financial help coming from the governement to the circus and theater, which here they actually get more money when they make social projects with young people, children and adults. But the problem arises when you make these social projects and you run out of time to work "artistically" in your personnel process, in the construction of performances and rehearsals ...They asked me how was the situation in Portugal. Tell me, you people from Portugal or in Portugal, because it is been exactly seven years that I am not there. I am not aware of what is happening there. Tell me, tell us!I remember once, i wanted to apply for financial aid it was for performing arts, accepted everything (drama, music, dance) minus the circus.

Puseram-se muitas questões, como a ajuda financeira vinda do estado para o circo e o teatro, que aqui na realidade obtêm mais dinheiro quando fazem projectos sociais com jovens, crianças e adultos. Mas surge o problema que quando fazem esses projectos sociais ficam sem tempo para trabalhar "artisticamente" no processo de cada actor, na construção de espectáculos, ensaios... 

Perguntaram-me como estava essa situação em Portugal. Digam-me vocês gente de Portugal ou em Portugal, pois faz precisamente 7 anos que não estou aí o que faz com que não esteja dentro dessa realidade e a par do que se passa aí. Digam-me vocês!

Lembro-me que uma vez, a única, que quis concorrer a uma ajuda financeira para artes cénicas, aceitavam tudo (teatro, música, dança)  menos o circo.

The next day, 6, we went to Itacaré, a village beside the beach, a paradise, where we took our first swim in the ocean here in Brazil! Aaaaaaaaah! Beaches with coconut trees, waterfalls, forest, tropical forest with many "micos" little monkeys ...

No dia seguinte, 6, fomos a Itacaré, uma cidadezinha ao lado da praia, um lugar paradisíaco, onde tomamos o nosso primeiro banho de mar aqui no Brasil!  AAAAAAAAAH!  Praias de coqueiros, cachoeiras, mata, muita mata tropical com "micos" macaquinhos pequeninos...

Here in Bahia, Ilhéus where  life is very different from what we are accustomed. Here the ptime is more relaxed. Here one needs much more time to organize, make, deliver something.For example here at home where we live, they are building a restaurant. They hired a man to make a wooden structure and put the roof, a very simple structure, would give two days work in total and some good bucks in your pocket. The first two days he simply did not show up, the next day he was sleeping, we had to go wake him up and the day after he staied watching the World Cup games at home, he was not working.They say here in general they do not like to work, rather, sleep, party, booze and football.I asked them why they did not seek other people soon and they said they change of persones and they only change of problem. They will not solve much.This is the family that welcomed us for 15 days at home.

Aqui na Bahia, aqui em Ilhéus o ritmo de vida é bem diferente daquilo a que estamos habituados. Aqui o ritmo é bem mais tranquilo. Aqui precisa-se de bem mais tempo para organizar, fazer, concretizar, alguma coisa. 

Por exemplo aqui  na casa onde estamos a viver, eles estão a montar um restaurante, contrataram um homem para fazer a estrutura em madeira e pôr o telhado, uma estrutura bem simples, daria 2 dias de trabalho no total e uns bons trocos no bolso. Os primeiros dois dias ele simplesmente não apareceu, no dia seguinte ficou a dormir, tivemos de o ir acordar, no dia depois ficou a ver o jogo da Copa e não foi trabalhar.

Eles dizem que aqui, em geral é assim, eles não gostam de trabalhar, preferem, dormir, festa, pinga e futebol.

Perguntei-lhes porque é que eles não procuraram logo outra pessoas e eles disseram que mudar de empregado é mudar de problema, não vai resolver muito.

Esta é a familia que nos recebeu por 15 dias na sua casa.

The House of Artists invited us to stay a while longer to do one more show and see if we could integrate into more projects in the city. We had the help of Rogerio, producer of the House of Artists, which gave us a helping hand that succeed in integrating in some draft Islanders as the "Cultural Caravan".A "Cultural Caravan" is a draft broadcasting shows in different neighborhoods here in Ilheus, integrating only artists of the islanders and the neighborhoods where they will work, except MADE IN TAIWAN.

A Casa dos Artistas convidou-nos a ficar um tempo mais para fazermos mais uma apresentação e ver se nos poderíamos integrar em mais projectos na cidade. Tivemos a ajuda do Rogério, produtor da Casa dos Artistas, que nos deu uma mãozinha para conseguirmos nos integrar em alguns projecto de Ilhéus, tal como a "Caravana Cultural".

A "Caravana Cultural" consiste num projecto de difusão de espectáculos em diferentes bairros daqui de Ilhéus, integrando somente artistas de ilhéus e dos bairros onde se vai actuar, á excepção de MADE IN TAIWAN.

We arrived at Barra, the caravan was already there (bus) open with a scene of 2m by 3m, 6 spotlights, one at the end of the street already few children playing.The audience came at once, a 100 people were present, and so we ran program with various dance groups, one story teller, guitar solo, Made In Taiwan and a circus troupe.We love to acttheire, the audience was very warm, very close to us, forming a very powerful and good energy.

Chegamos na Barra, já estava aí a caravana (autocarro) aberta, com um palco de 2m por 3m, 6 projectores, no final de uma das ruas ainda só com algumas crianças que brincavam só som da música de CD.

O publico chegou de uma só vez, estavam presentes uma 100 pessoas.

e assim decorreu a programação com vários grupos de dança, um conta histórias, solo de guitarra, Made In Taiwan e uma trupe de circo.

Gostamos muito de actuar, o publico estava bem quente, muito próximos a nós, formando uma energia muito potente e boa.

We had the opportunity to see the other shows and in this case there were a lot of dances. Adrien called them Booboo dance moves . It's mostly shaking their hips, the tail, with clothes that show the body, especially the girls.This makes us think about the relationship they have here in relation to the body. We are in a hot country, naturally wear short clothes, bikinis, use is minimal, a country that we think super open about it and sex and what we see in reality is that they still have plenty of taboos in this regard. The women don't do topless on the beaches, we do not know nude beaches (but already informed me that there are some, normal Brazil is huge). Well just a bracket that makes us think when we see how they look at the body of each other.

Tivemos a oportunidade de ver os outros espectáculos e neste caso o que havia mais eram danças que o Adrien chama de booboo move sao danças em que eles mexem principalmente as ancas, os rabos, com roupas que mostram o corpo, principalmente as miúdas. 

Isto faz-nos pensar na relação que eles têm aqui em relação ao corpo. Estamos num país quente, naturalmente se vestem roupas curtas, usam-se biquínis mínimos, um país que pensamos super aberto em relação a isso e ao sexo e o que vemos na realidade é que eles têm ainda bastantes tabus nesse aspecto. As mulheres não fazem topless nas praias, ainda não conhecemos praias de nudismo (mas já me informaram que existem algumas, normal o Brasil é gigante). Bom só um parêntesis que nos faz pensar quando vemos a forma como eles olham o corpo uns dos outros.

At the end of the programation, the public disappeared in the same second. We disassembled in 30 minutes, we climbed in the caravan and drove off. It was a magical moment!We were invited to participate in the next cultural caravan, wednesday 16.

No final da programação o publico desapareceu no mesmo segundo, desmontamos em 30 min, subimos na caravana e partimos. Foi um momento mágico!

The second presentation at the "House of Artists" had even fewer people than the first. Frankly we were a little sad. Some "artists" who knewthat we were there, most did not come. We have also seen, that is not so easy to attract the public to a theater even if the ticket costs 2.50 euros. It's sad when you put much energy on little things like making a flyer, printing, cuting, and arrange to meet people that doens't come or  arrive 1h late, travel by foot to go to these places to wait or going back. I'm stating a fact, that is generally not only in Brazil. I tooked a class of battery. A nigga a beautiful and passionate perssone!!
Little story...He said that once, 60 years ago more or less, in Rio de Janeiro, the tambourines and the guitarists were considered "rogues" vagrants. They were arrested by police when she found them playing in the streets. Theire friends had to go there and tell them that are not bums they are artists, they are only plaing. Many musicians today very well known here in Brazil went through this discrimination. One example is "Cartola".

However we made a flash presentation in a school and went on a weekend with the stars. Was a core of the University of Ilhéus, the physics course which hosted the meeting, being invited half physicals and half of actores of the "House of Artists". The aim was to perform a mini-course where the "physicals" made us see the stars, Jupiter, Saturn, star clusters, the Milky Way, identify constellations, and answer many questions and the theatral group propose practical theatrical , artistic interventions. Such as telling the story of the origin of the name of each one, tell real stories that have happened to us in connection with the stars (dramatizing), making political speeches during 5 min, 10 ways to die, tell the story of our city of origin during 5 min. among others ... We set up a presentation together to present to the people who lived near the farm where we were. Well, this meeting had place on a farm (farm) in Ipiaú, North West from Ilhéus. It was the ranch of one of the "physicals" students that participated in this mini course.

A segunda apresentação na casa dos artistas vieram ainda menos pessoas que na primeira.

Sinceramente ficamos um pouco tristes. Alguns "artistas" que sabiam que estávamos lá, grande parte não veio. Vimos que não é assim tão fácil atrair o publico a uma sala de teatro mesmo que o ingresso custe 2,50euros. É triste quando tu metes muita energia em pequenas coisas como fazer um flyer, fotocopiar, cortar, marcar encontros e as pessoas ou não vêm ou chegam 1h atrasadas, as viagens a pé para ir até esses locais para ficar á espera ou voltar para trás. Estou constatando um facto, que não existe só no Brasil é geral.

Assisti a uma aula de bateria. Um negão, já senhor, lindo e apaixonado.

Ele contou que antigamente há uns 60 anos atrás, mais ou menos, no Rio de Janeiro, os pandeiristas e os guitarristas eram considerados "malandros" vadios, eram presos pela policia quando ela os encontrava a tocar nas ruas. Tinham de ir lá amigos e dizer que são artistas,não são malandros. Muitos músicos hoje muito conhecidos aqui no Brasil passaram por esta discriminação. Um exemplo é o Cartola.

Entretanto fizemos uma apresentação flash numa escola e fomos num fim de semana com as estrelas.

Foi um núcleo da universidade de Ilhéus, do curso de Física que organizou o encontro, sendo convidados metade físicos e metade actores da Casa dos Artistas.

O objectivo foi de realizar um Mini-curso onde os "físicos" apaixonados pelas estrelas nos faziam ver Júpiter, Saturno, aglomerados de estrelas, a via láctea, identificar constelações, e responder a muitas questões que nem pensamos e onde os actores proponham práticas teatrais, intervenções artísticas, tais como, contar a história da origem do nome de cada um, contar contos reais, que se passaram connosco, relacionados com as estrelas (dramatizando), fazer discursos políticos durante 5 min, 10 formas de morrer, contar a historia da nossa cidade de origem durante 5 min., entre outras... 

Montamos uma apresentação em conjunto para apresentar para as pessoas que viviam junto há fazenda onde estávamos. 

Pois é, este encontro passou-se numa fazenda (quinta) em Ipiau a 2h de Ilhéus, Norte Oeste. Era a fazenda de um dos "físicos" que participava no mini curso.

Previously they were all cocoa farms. Belonged to colonels. Now there are no more colonels, and cocoa has been reduced, because there was a plague that killed almost all the cocoa in Bahia. In this region of Ipiaú, they dedicated since then to the creation of livestock, mainly for the extraction of milk.But still we were fortunate to eat cocoa removed from the tree, which for those who do not know is a white goo, sweet with a seed inside. And it is to suck, because that seed is bitter as well chewed everything! This seed must be dried, roasted, pounded and is the outcome of this whole process that comes 100% pure cocoa.  
AH! We also know a tree called "Pau d'garlic" is a tree trunk that smells like garlic, but really, it seems like you can eat it, it's amazing! Take off the outer bark of the tree and the interior smells of garlic, very intense! Unbelievable!

Antigamente estas fazendas eram todas de cacau. Pertenciam a coronéis. Agora não existem coronéis, e o cacau já foi reduzido, pois houve uma praga que matou quase todo o cacau da Bahia. Nesta região de Ipiau, dedicaram-se desde então á criação de gado, principalmente para extracção do leite.

Mas ainda tivemos a sorte de comer cacau retirado da árvore, que para quem não sabe é uma gosma branca, doce com uma semente por dentro. E é de chupar, pois essa semente mastigada assim é amarga como tudo! Essa semente tem de ser secada, torrada, pilada e é o resultados de todo este processo que surge o cacau 100% puro. AH! Conhecemos também uma árvore chamada, "Pau d'alho" é uma árvore que o tronco cheira a alho, mas mesmo muito, até parece que se pode comer, é incrível!! Tirasse a casca exterior da árvore e o interior cheira a alho, muito intenso!! Inacreditável!!

UAAUUU! The World Cup has come here to Brazil. You can not imagine what it means to them. Every time Brazil play, the stores only open in the morning and only the cafes, restaurants and bars will be open fully crowded, with their energies focused in one direction, the TV. Even the schools at the time of the game stops and everyone will see the game. It's amazing how football has a huge impact here.Tomorrow, in the first game of Brazil. We will make the opening of the bar-restaurant of Fabilola, were we are also going  to presente our performances at set intervals. 

We sow a "demonstration" where politicians, gathered some people to talk about upcoming projects in order to be approved by the population. The project are: An International Airport ; Another port -? ; A railroad; They came with students of two diferent schools possessing uniformed banners that said YES, so you already have an audience easy. The demonstration took place on a weekday at15 hours, who work to earn their bread and feedtheire  family could not go to this event to express what they thought. Just who was there at that time, people wolking around, old people and students. Even so, the city councilman said, "I do not understand why people haven't left their jobs to come to this "manifestation" " . He already knew people would be working, (i conspired) One way to persuade a majority of the population without problems of external demands. In a city like this, very little, where sanitation is very poor, where there are still many young people forced to work very early, 12 years, where many older didn't went to school, where wages are very low ... I find it amazing wanting to build an international airport, specialy next to the "enchanted lake" a beautiful pond with waterfalls, a beautiful tourist spot, with pure water. They want to make on the side, they know that will pollute the water, noise pollution, the works that will destroy a lot of rainforest, many rare animals ... When Ilhéus already have an airport. I think these things are incredible, we have to return to form politicians, really inteligent persones who can think in global troubadours with truth, feeding on something more than a handful of tickets premium of EUR100. Yes it is difficult for you who are far to see this reality, but here is very clear, the rich will be richer and the pores remained poor. It's not even that will give people good work here because here they have no training for that. People will come outside like already happened ... wow well it smeels development.

UAAUUU!! A Copa do Mundo chegou aqui ao Brasil. Vocês nem imaginam o que isso significa para eles.

A cada vez que o Brasil  jogue, as lojas só abrirão pela manhã e só os cafés, restaurantes e bares, estarão abertos lotados de gente, com suas energias focadas numa só direcção, na TV. Mesmo as escolas no momento do jogo param e todo o mundo vai ver o jogo. É incrível ver como o futebol tem um impacto gigantesco.

Amanhã, no primeiro jogo do Brasil, faremos a inauguração de um bar-restaurante, sim vamos apresentar os nossos espectáculos nos intervalos do jogo.

Estivemos presentes numa "manifestação" onde os políticos, juntaram alguma pessoas, para falarem sobre os próximos projectos em vista de serem aprovados pelo povo. Os projecto são: Um Aeroporto Internacional - numa cidadezinha como ilhéus???  ; mais um porto - ?? ; uma ferrovia ;

Foram a duas escolas buscar alunos, fardados para portarem as bandeiras que diziam SIM, assim já tens um publico fácil. A manifestação decorreu a um dia de semana pelas 15h, quem trabalhando, para ganhar o seu pão e alimentar a sua família poderia ir a essa manifestação manifestar o que pensavam? Só estava lá quem a essa hora estaria a passear, gente idosa e alunos. Mesmo assim o vereador da cidade disse, "Não percebo porque as pessoas não deixaram os seus trabalhos para virem a esta manifestação de interesse publico" já sabendo ele que as pessoas estariam a maior parte a trabalhar.

Uma forma de persuadir uma parte da população sem problemas de reivindicações exteriores.

Numa cidade como esta, muito pequenina, onde o saneamento básico é muito mau, onde ainda existem muitos jovens obrigados a trabalhar bem cedo, 12 anos, onde muitos dos mais velhos nem fizeram escola, estão com salários é muito baixos, ... acho incrível quererem construir um aeroporto internacional, do lado da "Lagoa encantada" uma lagoa lindíssima com cachoeiras, um ponto turístico belíssimo, água pura. Querem fazer do lado, já sabem que poluirão as águas, poluição sonora, as obras que destruirão muita mata tropical, muitos animais raros...  Quando Ilhéus já tem um aeroporto.  Acho incrível estas coisas gente, têm que se voltar a formar políticos, realmente pessoas inteligente, que saibam pensar no global, trovadores da verdade, alimentando-se de algo mais que um punhado de bilhetes de 100euros.

Sim é difícil para vocês que estão longe ver esta realidade, mas aqui é muito claro, os rico ficaram mais rico e os pores continuaram pobres. 

É que nem sequer bons trabalhos darão á população daqui pois ela não tem formação para isso. Virão pessoas de fora...   uau que bem me cheira o desenvolvimento.
