Mochila Tour

Mochila Tour 2010 it's a project organised and produced by Made in Taiwan, between 5 of May and 15 of August 2010. The main idea of the project is to travel from the south until the north of Brasil, finishing in Amazonia, with only a backpack, our juggling and our body.

My first idea to build this project was the curiosity to meet the reality in favela and out side favela, life and culture, where i could live this experience.

Why do it in Brasil?
I don't know. Anyway it's a good question... I think it is un illusion that i have with that country and curiosity to go there personally.

Porquê o Brasil?
Não sei. De todas as formas é uma boa pergunta... eu acho que eu tenho com esse país e a curiosidade de vivê-lo pessoalmente.

So, we were in Juquitiba

We present 4 times in 3 schools, for children's from 2 to 16 years old.

Some children's from 2 years old were afraid in my presentation "Um belo dia" . Some of them started to cry. It wasn't so easy to be a monster and see that the others are afraid of you and they cry, and you are like that and you have to continue. It was a good experience for the monster. In this day we played two times. After the shows i was sad, i wanted to cry, i felt empty, i didn't know why... was because of the first presentation for the 2 years old children's?... i don't know , i felt alone.

Adrien show

We return to São Paulo, to participate in the "Virada Cultural" the 15 of May. It's an event of 24h non stops of shows, concerts, performances, expositions, ...in the streets of the centre of São Paulo.

We participate with the ONG Escola Aprendiz, the ones we meet in the beginning of the trip.

"Um belo dia"
The Big "Virada Cultural", for us wasn't something extraordinary. We sow some ideas with a lot of money but with nothing more. Sad.
We fond a little bar, in a little street in he middle of big São Paulo, a group of old friends musicians, playing very good brazilian music, very traditional, with all their souls. We meet them between some drumming and beers, and a old man sad : "Their are some things that are gold and it doesn't shine" (showing us his hands).

Street "Virada Cultural"

We sow also a "renegades show" (it's a typical show organised by jugglers for jugglers) i never sow one, but this one was very nice!! Not only jugglers participate but also a very drunk man that danced for us, true street rappers invading the stage, a man trying to dance mickel jankson saing that his alive, others saing very bad jokes...
Londrina,
16 of may at 18h bus to Londrina,
6h30 sleeping in the bus,
We arrived.
Here real circus people, here is Circus School of Londrina , here they now everything...
acrobatic (very good level), aerial's, juggling, hand balancing.
Here they started to talk with us a lot about technique, about what they can and what they can not do,
they ask what can we do, do we have trucks to show them?...
Here body's don't relax, force, force, with force.

This project school is in this place since 7 years. They start in schools in poor neighbourhoods around here, where we were invited to present in the schools our shows and give workshops.

Londrina Circus school

Arriving to the school of Apucarana

Residence with circus students

We were very well received by Sérgio, one of the responsible and professor of the circus school, (the 1ºguy on left of the picture), a little guy always in a good mood, caring us everywhere with him.

Presentation at Apucarana school

It was a little bit hard for me meting this environment of circus and jugglers, because they wanted only to show their technique level, they only talk about that, do you do 5 balls...

Once in a school presentation a guy (circus guy) told me " Oh, you don't need to do your trucks, you just trough some clubs in the air and the children's are happy." In that moment hear this words, this reaction really pieced me of, wend i was going to show them what i love to do!
What do they understand by showing what you do? By giving ? What ?

Sorry for the delay!
Dulce Duca
